Find your style with women's tops
A classic button-down top is an essential part of every wardrobe. Go for a big, baggy style and wear it loose over a T-top for a relaxed weekend look. Alternatively, take a fitted, formal style to the office. It's the easiest way to dress up an outfit, making it smart and suitable for work in an instant. While a crisp white top is always a classic, there are great styles in every colour, as well as prints if you're feeling daring. If you choose a specific cut to act as your signature piece, make sure you always have a couple to hand and you'll never need to worry about what to wear again.
How to make an oversized top look fresh
Back in the 90s, an oversized plaid top worn over a T-top was the height of cool. Today, you can still rock this look – but you'll need to take care to keep it modern. First, take care when selecting your top. Oversized doesn't mean just choosing a bigger size than you normally wear; do this, and it won't fit through the shoulders, leaving you looking sloppy and swamped by your clothes. Next, keep your T-top tight and fitted, to make a contrast. Roll up your sleeves to elbow length to keep it casual. Either wear the combo with a denim mini skirt or a pair of skinny jeans. This ensures you'll still be fresh and feminine; straight jeans will make you look a bit too retro.
Wearing tops for the office
Women's tops for the office should be properly fitted. In particular, take care that your tops fit you through the bust. Straining buttons or gaping is never a good look, and needs to be avoided at all costs! Look for different necklines. A high neck is good if you have a smaller chest, but busty women need to take care – it's better to try a V-neck, which will be more flattering. Accessorising with a necklace will also help in this area; you'll draw the eye, but not directly to your cleavage. Pop a V-neck jumper in a contrasting colour over the top in winter for a look that's preppy, but always stylish. In the office, keep everything neatly tucked in, and be sure that your tops are always crisply ironed. It may seem obvious, but rumpled clothes are the easiest way to look unprofessional, so keep yours neat!
